My roommate and I felt such like tourists last night. After leaving
Williamsburg we completely got lost (which is usual for me) and ended up in downtown
Brooklyn instead of downtown
Manhattan, & Instead of
ON the Brooklyn Bridge we ended up
UNDERNEATH the Brooklyn bridge. There we saw a whole bunch of people standing outside. So, me being spontaneous, I parked and got out of the car to find out what everyone was talking about.
I ran into a bunch of tourists that were just enjoying the view of
Manhattan from
Brooklyn and the view of the waterfalls on the
Brooklyn Bridge. I have to say, I totally turned into the tourist mode. The view was fascinating.
There were so many places to eat and, I had a difficulty choosing, but my roommate was craving Calamari. After passing a few restaurants we came across
Five Front Street. The food (and prices) were talkin' to me!
We sat outside where they were playing
Mary J Blidge and
Amerie on a boom box (perfect music!) while a
Marvin Gaye record was spinning inside (this restaurant was made for
me), as I sat & ate my curry Mussels and Calamari. The food was great and the bill only came to
$27.00!
Besides the huge waterbug falling from a tree onto a woman's head that was sitting next to us (thank God it wasn't me!) the evening, and food!, couldn't have been more perfect. (Don't fret about the waterbug guys, when you are sitting outside in humid NY, anything can happen.)
I should get lost in NY more often.
