ATF Event Coverage: PowerHouse 2008
I had the pleasure of working at PowerHouse last night. The show was simply historic. Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, two of the best rappers alive shared the same stage. I am still shocked about how amazing the show turned out to be. The crowd was going crazy all throughout the show. Since I had exclusive access to the show and all the behind the scenes stuff...Check out more of my review, pics, and video after the jump....Now the show was pretty stressful, it was rumored that Lil Wayne wasn't going to show up. Everyone is aware of the "PROBLEM" that Weezy has, so dealing with him was not an easy task what so ever. I love how Jay-Z can shut down a backstage, when people have work to do. I work for the damn station but I wasn't allowed no where near his dressing room, maybe that was a good idea with Beyonce being in there lol... The show kicked off with a ghetto performance from D-Block. I didn't even know who was who, because it was thirty dudes on the stage. The crowd was loving it, though. Ne-Yo followed them with a killer show. He did all his his hits and couldn't stop dancing. I just still can't get over the fact Ne-Yo was rocking a fitted, I am so use to those little small fedoras. I have to say his vocals were on point, he is really improving.
Now the for Weezy....He was not what I expected. I wanted to see the energy. I wanted him to be jumping on speakers. All this man did was stand at the mic, pace back and forth, and roll on the ground. I still can't get over the fact he closed the show with I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. He did all the hot songs from The Carter III. People were kind of upset he didn't take it back to the Cash Money years. I was so hype when Bobby Valentino came out to perform Mrs.Officer, where is that video by the way. Overall Weezy was very entertaining, I just hyped it up way too much. At least he showed up lol...Jay-Z KILLED IT!! I am a big fan of Mr.Carter. He performed all my favorite tracks. He took us back to Reasonable Doubt and even gave us some new joints. Yall already know I was going crazy when Beyonce came out to do Single Ladies. I knew she was there already, I was just counting down till i got to see her perform. All she did was a part of the chorus, then she strutted off the stage: That's all I needed! If you missed PowerHouse, you truly missed an historic night. The show really made my year...I have never seen Wayne or Hov in concert, so that was great experience
