Fab Blogger: Micah Jesse!

mj.JPG

The past couple of weeks I've ran into Micah Jesse at various events. His personality and bubbily attitude brightens up any room. Come to find out, this socialite has been in the NY party scene for quite a while and also runs his own blog which I check quite often, MicahJesse.com. It was an honor to interview Micah.. check out the interview after the jump!...

mjpartying.jpg ATF: Hi, Micah! So you are originally from ATL right? How was the move and what made you move to the Big Apple?   Micah Jesse: Well, I always put my college first, I was going to North Springs HS at the time. Ever since I was little, people always said “Micah is going to New York” and I never thought it was going to happen. You know, my parents weren’t big fans of New York, but I was destined to come to NY. So, I researched schools in the area but I didn’t want to live in the city quite yet. I chose Hofstra and it’s been great. So I have no regrets.   ATF: How is it that you made yourself so well known in the NY party scene? MJ: Oh my God, I guess just going out so often and I have kind of a distinct look you know—whether it be the nights I decide to wear glasses, or my skinny jeans. It’s kind of a recognizable look. But also because of my blog, you know I have people as facebook friends and they know that I’m out and about. People come up to me and say, “Hey I read your blog!”    ATF: When did you start blogging? mj31.jpg

MJ: April 2007, so in a couple of months it will be 2 yrs! ATF: You’ve met a lot of celebs, who would you say is your celebrity crush? MJ: Zach Efron, Oh my God, he is so cute. (Chuckles.) ATF: You’ve been to all the hot parties in NYC, which was the best event? MJ: Ok, I would have to say that –as far as aesthetics and the proportions of the party—it would be the Diesel XXX party about 2 months ago. It was held in Brooklyn and literally everyone and their mother—like people that didn’t even know where Brooklyn was—made their way out to this party. And N.E.R.D performed and M.I.A and it was totally open bar and it was huge, and they had circus acts going on—and it was definitely over the top. ATF: ATF and Micah Jesse, we both live and breathe NYC— so what’s your favorite thing to do in the city? Where’s your favorite restaurant? MJ: My favorite restaurant is Philippe restaurant on 60th and Park. It’s so fabulous; there are always gorgeous people there. Lots of celebs and it’s very low-key, and the food is to die for. If you love Chinese, it’s upscale—real upscale Chinese. The drinks are amazing too. So that’s my favorite restaurant. My favorite club, I know it sounds cliché, but 1 oak. I love it because there’s no cell phone service, it forces you to party hard and dance and just have a good time. Sometimes you leave there and just lose track of time because it’s so dark—it’s always so fun. You leave and you are like “Oh My God! It’s 5AM?” mj2.jpg ATF: What do you like to do when you aren’t at these events or clubbing? MJ: Something that people don’t know about me is that I’m a homebody when I’m not out, I have a double personality. When I’m out and about I’m just larger than life and I love to have a great time. But when I’m in.. I’m so in. and I’m in sweatpants and Uggz and I just like to drink soup and just like really lay low. And because I’m not Perez Hilton I’m not next to my computer and blog, I kind of have that double personality. Some nights I just blog on my computer, and I just sit up in the lab and I have a lot of subscriptions to youtube channels. I watch—I don’t even watch TV I watch youtube! (laugh) ATF: That’s how it is nowadays! So, it’s rumored that you are like best friends with Aubrey from Danity Kane, is that true? MJ: Yeah, I wouldn’t say best friends but we are definitely good friends. What really attracts me to her is that she genuinely doesn’t care what people think. And it’s taken me a long time to get to that point and I think we share that. You know coming out of the closet in Georgia and then moving to NYC—and saying nobody can bring me down is something that I identify with Aubrey. And the other thing is I tried to find out a lot about her that other media outlets didn’t focus on such as the fact that she gets ready for herself—maybe that’s not the best thing for her (laughs). But you know she does charities and she’s really a sweetheart. The first night we met she kicked her legs up in the cab and really let her hair down with me. And she told me what’s up you know. She kind of broke it down—she’s really cool. ATF: What do you think we can expect from her after she got dropped from Danity Kane?

mjaubrey.jpg MJ: This is all just speculation, I think she will def have a solo career. I think she can def hold her own. She can dabble on a lot of other things too. Maybe TV, movies, maybe a spin off of Making the Band or maybe even something scandalous, you know the last cover shoot she did for Complex mag she was pretty close to naked, so you never know! Aubrey is a bad girl! ATF: Where do you see yourself in 5 years, Micah? MJ: Well 5 yrs… 10 yrs…I don’t know! I would eventually love to have a talk show! You know I love talking to people. Something I always focus on is positivity; and I think that’ll make for a really good show. Making positivity be scandalous… get something out of somebody that’s positive and not ruin their career. So maybe have a radio, maybe hosting on Enews and Extra Entertainment Tonight, a few of them have already scouted me so that s cool.

ATF: Wow! That’s great! MJ: Yeah, continue to work on my blog and just working hard.. always!

ATF: Thank you so much, Micah! MJ: Thank you!
