Coffee Hour: Dating an Athlete

Chilli was recently spotted by Baller Alert in the club in Miami with her new boyfriend, NFL baller, Larry Johnson. Many of you may not be familiar with Larry, but he also used to date Julissa Bermudez back in the day, and there have been some not-so-pleasant rumors circulating around about him on the web. This site, Baller Alert, happens to be one of my guilty pleasures, as their messageboard somewhat serves as a "Don't Date Him Girl" guide to the 10th power. However, I'm often intrigued by the number of females on that site who's main goal in life is to snag an athlete, especially with all of the recent controversy surrounding them, such as the Dwayne Wade saga, etc.
We touched on the topic of cheating athletes in a former "Coffee Hour", but we still wanted to dive a little deeper. Me, personally, I've never really been into them, but to each his own. Sure, they're good to look at and they are well off, and you get the V.I.P treatment if you do end up dating one, but with all the drama that comes along, is it worth the trouble?
I asked a few female friends on Twitter to give some pros and cons that came with their experiences with dating athletes, and I received some cool feedback:
veebrezzy @FABULOUSAURA YEAH GIRL IF U DON'T MIND GROUPIES FEMALE & MALE THEN MAY THE LORD BLESS U
MartineATF @fabulousaura, yes i have. Cons: Constantly on his phone, who knows how many women he was juggling. Untrustworthy.
HelloMissJean @fabulousaura ALL CONS to dating an athlete. Your mind never rests.
It seems as though the general consensus is that the drama that comes with the situation isn't worth the trouble. If that's the case, then what is really behind the appeal? Is the money and the fame that you may or may not receive from the relationship worth it? Also, how many of you have actually dated a professional athlete and had a good experience?
Please share if you dare.
