What To Wear Friday: Dinner Date
I know it's been a while, and I left you guys for dead- but I'm back! For my last 'What To Wear Friday', I did 5 fab looks for the club. This Friday, I'm doing 5 fab looks for a dinner date. Why? The weather is getting warmer, events are more frequent, and you're more likely to go on a few dates this season! For those of you accepting dates, I got you:
Look 1, Dreamgirl:
Diane von Furstenberg
Giselle charmeuse tunic $265,
Net-A-Porter
Tory Burch
Tanya leather sandals $295,
Net-A-Porter
Diesel Leather Pleated
Clutch $131.29,
ASOS
This beautiful royal blue color is universally flattering. No matter what your complexion, undertone, this color (along with red) looks good oneverybody! The brown sandals & clutch make it perfect for this season! Let your mani & pedi stand out against this shade brown, without stealing the show, making him totally forget how sweet, funny & smart you are. After all, that's the point right?
Look 2, peek-a-boo:
ASOS One-Shoulder
Bodycon dress $59.39,
ASOS
Jimmy Choo
Samoa kid sandals $785,
Net-A-Porter
Karen Miller Diamond party
Diamente evening clutch $154.74,
ASOS
Give him just enough with this one-shoulder dress! You never want to show too much, especially on a first date. You have to leave some things to the imagination. A little cleavage is okay, but make sure the girl's aren't coming out to play. It's not her turn to meet the new guy yet! This all black ensemble does the trick, it's sexy & mystique, and the clutch add's a pop of color! After all, it is Spring.
Look 3, Sexy Lady:
Jay Godfrey Striped
one shoulder jersey dress $365,
INTERMIX
Sergio Rossi strappy
patent band sandals $695,
INTERMIX
Coast Double Frill
Clutch $78.15,
ASOS
There's nothing wrong with being a little sexy for a dinner date! This simple striped gray & white dress, sticks the body like glue, but it doesn't show too much leg or cleavage. Again, it's about balance- showing just enough and not too much. This strappy sandal is perfect, so the legs won't be too naked or bare, and this frill clutch add's a little umph to a rather simple 'fit.
**Quick tip: It's all about balance, if you're going to show some leg, don't show cleavage. If you're showing cleavage, don't show too much legs. You never want to wear long dresses on a dinner date, there has to be a little tease in your outfit without being suggestive. Got it? Good!
Look 4, Good Girl Gone Dating:
Liberty's
Ride Dress $188,
French Connection
Camilla Skovgaard Barbero
T-strap High Heel sandals $440,
Shopbop
Oasis Enchanted Flower
Clasp Bracelet $31.26,
ASOS
This look is for the good girl in all of us, the girl who is still getting comfortable with her femininity and still scared to pull out the tight, one shoulder or bandeau dress. The simple black/white color scheme can allow him to focus on you, but still notice that you're not the one trying to give it all away right away. This look says take it easy and come correct, and this playful bracelet adds a pop of jewel to this simple outfit.
Look 5, First Class:
Otto
Cotton Dress $158,
French Connection
Carvela Corsage Detail
platform slingback shoe $187.56,
ASOS
Linked Bangles $28,
French Connection
Love this look! I think it's my fave of the 5 looks. It's classy, mature, and it's a good color mesh. I was actually in the French Connection store the other day, and I need this dress for my Miami upcoming getaway! This dress would be good for someone looking to give a little cleavage action, but not too much leg. Remember ladies, keep them guessing!
Things you DON'T wear on dinner dates: maxi dresses (too casual), flats (this is ok when your shopping early in the day for the outfit, but not for the actual date!), shorts & jeans (put it like this, no denim is okay! A man likes when his woman looks like, well, a woman), very mini dresses (don't give away too much, especially on the first date. Leave SOMETHING to the imagination), and see-through (anything too revealing is NEVER okay)
