Melanie Fiona is pictured here speaking to fans and entertainment industry executives last night at the Recording Academy NY Chapter. In case you missed it, she was nominated for "Best Female R&B Vocal Performance" this year for her hit song, "It Kills Me", but was beat out by Beyonce for "Single Ladies". In an interview with QtheQuestion.com, she revealed why its so important for her to make sure that she spends time interacting with and thanking fans:

I try to stay online and twitter, that’s one of the main things… and usually when I do shows or I go places sometimes the execs or the management is like okay, c’mon you’ve got to go, but I really try to make it a point to shake people’s hands, give them hugs, take pictures with them if they want to, sign things, because it’s really important. I don’t ever want people to feel like they waited all day, so many hours to see me you know, and then I just walked by them and didn’t acknowledge them. It’s really important for my fans that they feel connected to me and that we can keep in touch which ever way we can.
