Caitlyn Jenner Now Admits President Has Set Transgendered People Back 20 Years

Lest we forget, Caitlyn Jenner was a Republican before she was a woman. The former Olympian shocked the world during the 2016 campaign when she threw her support behind Donald Trump.

Many seemed to think that, after sharing her transition from male to female with the world, the reality star would have been more careful about endorsing a candidate more sympathetic to GLBTQ issues.

She stuck to her guns in her support for Trump even after the election, but she's now experiencing some buyer's remorse.

When the 68-year-old poster child for transgenderism threw her support behind Trump, many questioned why she would support a GOP candidate. The Republican party has attempted to put up roadblocks at every turn as transgendered people fought for equal rights.

Why seek to put a candidate in office when his party wants nothing more than to undo all the progress that's been made?

Jenner, who was heavily critical of Hillary Clinton, assured the world that Trump was 'very much behind the LGBT community'. She also said that Trump would be good for women's issues, despite his misogynistic (to say the least) comments about women over the years.

She believed Trump when he pledged his support to the LGBTQ community, such as when he tweeted, "Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs."

Even in the early days of Trump's presidency, Jenner stood by Trump, only to watch in horror as he rolled back one victory after another. Within a few months of being in the Oval office, Trump announced that he was reinstating the ban on transgendered people joining the military.

He also stripped away protections that would allow transgendered students in school to use the proper bathrooms. His Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, went on to write a memo stating that Title II, a prohibition on sex discrimination against transgendered individuals in the workplace, would no longer be recognized by the courts.

Jenner was slammed left and right for keeping up her support of Trump, but she's finally admitting it was a mistake. She now admits that the Trump administration has 'been the worst ever' when it comes to the transgendered community.

"They’ve set our community back 20 years, easily," she said in a comment to Newsweek. "It’s going to be hard to change, but we’ve been through these types of things before and we’ll continue to fight it."

"We’re all Americans," the conservative went on to say. "I think of it this way: We have diversity in mankind, humankind. We have diversity all over the place, diversity in the way people look, diversity in religion, diversity in skin color. Wouldn’t it be a dull world if everybody was the same?"

The transgendered community and their supporters have repeatedly warned Jenner that a Trump presidency would be disastrous. Still, she stuck to her guns, willing to gamble.

"In Trump’s case, there’s a lot more unknowns," she said during the election. "With Hillary, you pretty much know what you’re gonna get with the LGBT community."

She went bust with that gamble. She still remains hopeful, however. “It’s going to be hard to change, but we’ve been through these types of things before and we’ll continue to fight it,” she told Newsweek.
