The Queen and Meghan Markle's Body Language Shows Off How They Really Feel About Each Other

It's been said before: Meghan Markle is not the typical royal bride. She's American, for one thing. She is an outspoken feminist, while royals generally try to stay politically neutral. She's an actress, and while there has been plenty of drama in the royal family, stage and film careers are not usually the occupation of choice.

She's also been divorced, which would throughout history have put her out of the running for marrying a Prince.

Still, even with all the way Meghan is different from her predecessors, she and Queen Elizabeth II, her grandmother-in-law, seem to be hitting it off really well.

When Harry brought Meghan home to meet the royal family, it appears as though the actress charmed the Queen straight off the bat. Reports from palace insiders said that the Queen felt Meghan was a 'a positive person in Prince Harry's life', according to Closer Weekly.

The Queen had absolutely no objections to the marriage, despite all the traditions being broken. She just seemed delighted that her grandson found true love, and gave her permission for their union.

A body language expert tells Bustle, "I think it might be fair to say that the Queen looks fascinated by her new granddaughter-in-law."

Judi James explains, "She has always looked like the indulgent granny with the more fun and informal Harry, and her intense interest signals with Meghan suggest she's more than happy with his choice of bride... [The Queen's] smile during the official photo is one of genuine, relaxed-looking delight and as Meghan's body language suggests she's towing the royal line, her assurance patting of Harry will have given the Queen clues of a more nurturing side too."

Meghan has also apparently taken to the Queen, and is doing her best to please Her Majesty. When she first began approaching the Queen, Meghan kept a close eye on Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton. She mimiced the Duchess of Cambridge in greetings and curtseying, showing she was trying to make a real effort.

Even at the wedding, Meghan did her best to be as regal as possible.

"The feeling I get about Meghan is she's very eager to please, and determined to slot in, and do the job properly," said Dr. Peter Collett, body language expert, to Bustle. "She's extremely conscientious and bringing to bear some of the discipline associated with being an actor. You can see she's a quick learner and she's got the wherewithal to pull off a performance of being a member of the royal family, which is all about fitting into the role."

The Queen is showing real appreciation for the way Meghan is trying to do the royal family proud. Meghan will be accompanying the Queen on her first royal outing. The two will be heading north of London on the exclusive royal train. The train, which only operates a handful of times per year, is exclusively used for travel by the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla.

Kate Middleton has never been on it. Even William and Harry have reportedly not ridden on it yet, so Meghan is getting a real treat!
