Brilliant Way to Defrost Your Car Window in Seconds

Let's face it, it can be hard to want to drag yourself out of bed on a cold winter morning as it is. Crawling out from under the warm covers to face the cold floor so you can get ready for the day is a little depressing to think about, but it gets worse.

There is that moment when you have to leave the warm shelter of your home to pile into the car.

More likely than not, you're going to get stuck sitting there for a good 20 minutes, wasting gas, while the defroster does its job on the windshield.

Maybe you're running a little late, in which case you might have to speed things up with a plastic scraper.

If you've ever found yourself in this position and thought, 'There's got to be a better way'-- guess what? There is.

You don't need to wait for the car to heat up enough to melt ice, nor do you have to stand out there in your driveway turning into a popsicle while you exert your muscles. All you have to do is keep one simple solution in a spray bottle in your car.

Before winter roars in this year, do yourself a favor. Get an empty spray bottle. Fill it 2/3 of the way with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), which you can get at the local drug store for about a buck. Fill it the rest of the way with water (not hot water; just regular, room-temperature tap water).

Shake it up and put that mixture in your car. Stick it in your trunk, and the next time you're facing a frosty window, pull it out and spray. On contact, the spray will melt the frost away and give you a clean, clear view.

According to Knoxville, Tennessee meteorologist Ken Weathers with ABC channel WATE 6, there is science behind the solution. Rubbing alcohol has an unusually low freezing point. It won't freeze until temperatures reach about 128 degrees below the freezing point of water.

Because of this, the spray works on frost like magic.
