Pop Star Pink Explains Why She's Raising Her Kids As Gender Neutral

Pink, the famous singer and songwriter, has announced that she is raising her children to be gender neutral. In an interview with the Mirror, Pink, who is now 38 years old and whose real name is Alecia Beth Moore, revealed that she would be doing whatever she can to limit her children’s exposure to traditional ideas about gender roles, appearance and behavior.

“We are a very label-less household,” emphasized Pink, who has two children, six-year-old daughter Willow and 11-month-old son Jameson. Pink’s whole parenting strategy is geared towards openness and freedom, ensuring that her children don’t feel like they have to act a certain way to be accepted.

It seems like the singer’s strategy is already working. “Last week Willow told me she is going to marry an African woman,” said Pink. “I was like: ‘Great, can you teach me how to make African food? And she’s like: ‘Sure Mama, and we are going to live with you while our house is getting ready.’”

The subject of gender-neutral bathrooms continues to feature heavily in debates about child safety and sexuality. Pink does not seem to share these concerns, recalling the moment she found a gender-neutral bathroom at her daughter’s school.

“I was in a school and the bathroom outside the kindergarten said: ‘Gender Neutral — anybody,’ and it was a drawing of many different shapes,” remembered the singer. “I took a picture of it and I wrote: ‘Progress.’ I thought that was awesome. I love that kids are having this conversation.”

In a speech earlier this year, Pink told the crowd at the VMAs about the moment her daughter told her she was being bullied for being “the ugliest girl in class.” In her speech, Pink told to the crowd how she responded to her daughter.

“Well what do you think I look like?” asked Pink. “And she said, ‘Well you’re beautiful.’ And I was like, ‘Well, thanks. But when people make fun of me, that’s what they use.'”

“'They say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I have too many opinions, my body is too strong. Baby girl, we don’t change. We take the gravel and the shell and we make a pearl. And we help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty.’”

In the same interview, Pink was also asked about the chance of her accepting the role of a judge on X-Factor. But the question was barely voiced before Pink shot it down. “I would be so uncomfortable the whole time because I wouldn’t want to be mean to anyone, but then I wouldn’t want to bulls**t anyone,” she warned.

When asked about her opinion of Donald Trump, Pink had nothing positive to say. “The world the way it is now is dicey, dicey,” she began. “It’s crazy times. Every morning I wake up, throw my hands up in the air and I’m like, ‘F***ing unbelievable, this is unbelievable.'”

“What’s my reaction to Trump? Simply f***ing unbelievable,” she exclaimed. “There is no good stuff with him, no good stuff at all. There’s zero there. I just want this part over so we can get to the clean-up operation.”
