Author Michael Wolff Alleges First Couple Essentially Live Separate Lives

Author Michael Wolff has captured a ton of attention for his new book, ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,’ and it’s been flying off of the shelves as a result. The book is chock full of tidbits that build to Wolff’s ultimate conclusion: that the commander-in-chief is unfit for office and that he needs to be removed as soon as possible for the safety of humankind.

Wolff hasn’t backed down from those assertions in a number of media appearances to promote the book, but he’s struggled with some tough questions in regards to his work. Nonetheless, it’s clear that Wolff had extensive access to the White House, and it looks like he spoke with a ton of folks that didn’t have very nice things to say about President Donald Trump.

Beyond the various quotes that paint Trump in an unflattering light, Wolff also drives home a couple of other points in the book. As People shares, he also paints a picture of a First Couple that is essentially living separate lives.

“He and Melania spent relatively little time together. … Often she did not know where he was, or take much notice of that fact,” he writes

To bolster that point, Wolff draws on a number of sources that describe the Trumps' marriage as “perplexing.” In short, Wolff contends that it’s a marriage of convenience, and that the president views the First Lady as a “trophy wife.”

“He admired her looks — often, awkwardly for her, in the presence of others,” Wolff contends.

All in all, it’s a pretty bold assertion from an author to claim that he has insight into the sanctity of another couple’s marriage due to gossip that’s making the rounds among White House staffers. To put things in perspective, in exactly how many places of employment are there not employees that will throw shade at the boss when he or she is out of earshot?

Those places are few and far between, and those that are fortunate enough to be employed at one of them should thank their lucky stars.

In fairness to Wolff, there have been an endless amount of stories making the rounds about potential trouble in paradise for the Trumps. In the wake of the inauguration, scores of observers were aghast at the fact that Melania remained behind at Trump Tower so that son Barron could finish out the school year.

The couple was quite forthcoming about the decision, and they determined this would be the best course of action for their young son as opposed to uprooting him in the middle of the school year.

Nonetheless, those that read the tea leaves took it as a sign that there were problems afoot. There have been repeated denials from the office of the First Lady that there’s anything to see here, but that does no good as far as warding off the endless speculation about her marriage.

Those that claim there’s trouble afoot simply are unwilling to accept the fact that they may be off the mark, and the gossip will continue to churn as a result.

So is there anything to see here or not? We have no idea, and neither does anyone that doesn’t have an incredibly close personal relationship with the First Couple.
