DJ Accused Of Groping Taylor Swift Makes Stunning Claim About What Really Happened

A long-simmering case involving music star Taylor Swift has finally mades its way to the courtroom, and this one bears watching. The suit centers around an alleged groping incident that took place way back in 2013. Suits have been filed in both directions, and a slew of hearings and depositions have made no headway. As USA Today shares, there was no indication that either side was willing to budge, so now it’s up to the court to decide who to believe.

Swift was at a meet-and-greet in Denver at the time of the incident. Radio host David Mueller was also in attendance, and the pair took part in a photo shoot. After the shoot, Swift accused Mueller of groping her. The matter quickly escalated from a simple complaint, and Mueller was fired from his job soon thereafter.

Things simmered for awhile after that, but then a full boil erupted when Mueller filed suit two years later. He sued Swift, her mother, and her management team, accusing them of slander and getting him fired while denying the allegations. Swift countersued from that point, again accused him of groping her, and denied that she had anything to do with his firing. The trial finally kicked off yesterday, and it sounds like the court has a lot to sift through.

“Former radio host David Mueller, who sued Swift two years after being fired by his radio station as a result of the encounter, testified Tuesday at the civil trial in Denver that he may have touched Swift's 'rib cage, or rib, or ribs' with a closed hand as he tried to jump into a photo with the celebrity,” USA Today reports. “The ex-disc jockey said he and Swift were trying to reach around one another and their hands and arms touched during a meet-and-greet that he estimated lasted 40 seconds or less.”

As you would expect, things are already getting testy as attorneys on both sides present their case.

“Mueller's lawyer began Tuesday with an opening statement telling the jury that inappropriate touching is offensive and wrong but that 'falsely accusing someone of inappropriate touching is equally offensive' and wrong,” USA Today continues. “During his testimony, Mueller said that he wants to vindicate himself and recoup lost earnings after being fired from his dream job over the claim. He said he was earning $150,000 under a two-year contract that began six months before the concert.”

Swift’s side paints a vastly different picture.

“In his opening statement, Swift's lawyer Douglas Baldridge was resolute about what occurred before the 2013 concert. 'That's the one and only story we have to tell you — that Mr. Mueller grabbed her rear end,' Baldridge said, also emphasizing the age difference between Mueller, then 51, and Swift, then 23,” USA Today continues. “Baldridge asked jurors: 'What’s wrong with this picture? A woman gets assaulted, a woman reports it, and she gets sued.'”

The trial is expected to last nine days. We can expect a ton of ‘he said, she said’ type stuff to emerge, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed that the truth comes out in court.
