Mother Makes Terrifying Discovery 11 Years After Husband Goes Missing

In 2006, a couple with two children got into an argument, and the angry father stomped out of the house. He wasn't seen or heard from again for 11 years, and his family had no idea what happened to him.

They wondered if he had an accident or met with foul play. Recently, the family spotted him looking perfectly fine in a parking lot.

Russell Jenkin of Australia disappeared from his home in Victoria on September 22, 2006. The angry dad had stomped off after having an argument with his wife, Sanie Gillette.

He walked out of the house and drove away, leaving Gillette with their two sons, ages two and four at the time.

The next day, his car was found near a football stadium. That was the last his family heard of him. He never contacted them, or provided a forwarding address.

He never sent inquiries about his sons, or any form of support.

Gillette never knew what to tell her sons as they grew up. Initially, police treated it as a missing person's case and searched for Jenkin, but came up empty handed.

Now, after 11 years, Gillette and her sons said they were in a parking lot at a shopping mall and they spotted the estranged husband and father.

"It was a bit numbing ... realizing it was him. We could have approached him, but he could have approached us," said Gillette.

The boys, now ages 15 and 12, were sure it was their father. Especially Ethan.

"He looked up the missing person's poster and he was 100 per cent positive," Gillette said. "There's no reason for him to be there. He may have been passing through, but it was definitely Russell."

Authorities are reopening the missing person's case and trying to locate Jenkin, now 47 years old. He's not in any trouble, though, says Wyndham Detective Sergeant Dennis Williams.

"It's not a crime to go missing," Williams said, but he notes that the family wants to know if Jenkins is alright.

Some on social media argue that it is a crime for a parent to run away and not pay child support, which could be part of the reason Jenkin allegedly remained in hiding.

Gillette is convinced she's seen her husband and wants him to come clean, for the sake of her sons. "I've never been in another relationship, so the boys have never had that male figure, but in saying that they've turned out very good, they're good boys."

"The youngest one is 12 going on 13, and he sees his friends with their dads but he just doesn't get to have his dad there,” Gillette continued.

"As the boys get older, they ask more questions, especially Ethan being the oldest, he's not quite sure how he feels about seeing him.”
