Cindy McCain Confuses Followers With New Move - Agrees To Join The Trump Administration

Cindy McCain, wife of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and an impressive businesswoman and humanitarian in her own right, has finally relented and accepted a job with the Trump administration. Mrs. McCain had been asked multiple times to accept a position in the State Department under President Donald Trump, but repeatedly turned down the offer. She's finally agreed to come on board.

According to senior Trump officials, the president 'aggressively courted' McCain. As a known advocate for refugees and other humanitarian issues that Trump's agenda clashed with, she kept turning down the offer.

Cindy had been chair of HALO USA, a humanitarian organization that clears landmines and other explosives out of war-torn communities. She's been an outspoken advocate against sex trafficking. She founded the American Voluntary Medical Team, a non-profit organization that helps organize trips for doctors, nurses and other medical experts to visit disaster-struck, third-world areas and provide medical care to suffering civilians.

On a trip to Bangladesh in 1991, McCain met an infant girl that required medical treatment at Mother Theresa's orphanage, and she brought the baby home and adopted her. Mrs. McCain was also one of the first Republicans who was outspoken in her support for same-sex marriage.

Mrs. McCain and her husband were not supporters of candidate Trump during the 2016 campaign. They withdrew their support after damaging recordings of the president demeaning women and bragging about sexual assaults were leaked. Trump attacked Sen. McCain repeatedly on the campaign trail, making what Cindy called 'shallow and stupid' comments about the senator's Vietnam War service.

Trump also attacked the couple's daughter, Meghan McCain, calling her 'angry and obnoxious'. Meghan is a media personality and was also frequently critical of Trump during his campaign.

According to reports, it might be First Daughter Ivanka Trump who is behind the surprising turn of events. Anonymous White House officials say she encouraged her father to continue to pursue Mrs. McCain for a position in his administration. After working on an anti-human trafficking event at the White House, Ivanka was impressed by Cindy's experience with global humanitarian issues.

The POTUS hosted a White House dinner for the McCains in April, and one anonymous Trump senior advisor says it was more so that he could get to know Cindy than John. “When [President Trump] sat down and ate with [John] McCain, it was always really to meet with the other McCain,” said the official.

“It’s a done deal now. ... The president had floated several positions before—this is the one that stuck,” said the anonymous source, according to The Hill.

After Trump was slammed for his 'America first' philosophy and harsh treatment of refugees, the president seems to be making the effort to smooth international relations. With McCain in a senior role in Trump's administration, it could help not only ease his tensions with foreign leaders, but also with Sen. John McCain, one of his most outspoken and influential critics.
