Lindsey Graham Applauds Trump’s Foreign Policy

Sen. Lindsey Graham is “the happiest dude in America right now” because of President Trump’s aggressive approach to the nation’s adversaries around the world, the South Carolina Republican declared Wednesday.

“We have got a president and a national-security team that I’ve been dreaming of for eight years,” Graham said on Fox News. He praised Trump for putting Iran “on notice” to comply with the nuclear-weapons agreement, bombing a Syrian airfield in response to a chemical-weapons attack allegedly ordered by the country’s ruler, and warning North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to stop testing ballistic missiles.

According to Politico, the Trump administration told Congress Tuesday night that Iranian officials were abiding by the terms of the nuclear deal. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that the United States would respond by reducing economic sanctions on Iran, while conducting a review of the agreement. “To me, that has been music to my ears,” Graham said. “Iran is running through the Mideast. They are toppling every government they can get their hands on.”

The senator continued: “North Korea, if I were Kim Jong Un, whatever his name is, I would listen to Mike Pence. The fact that the vice president of the United States went to the DMZ, looked across the way and said, ‘We’re watching you’; Donald Trump is not going to let this nut job in North Korea get a missile to hit America. And if I were North Korea and China, I would start thinking anew about the president of the United States. I am all in. Keep it up, Donald. I’m sure you’re watching. Don’t let these guys talk you out of being tough, because you need to be tough.”

Rawstory reported that Graham said he is “really pleased with what (Trump) has done to rebuild our military, to restore our standing.” The lawmaker claimed the president “has got the best national-security team I’ve seen since I’ve been in government.”

The praise seems out of character for Graham, who repeatedly criticized Trump during last year’s race for the Republican presidential nomination. The senator, one of the top military “hawks” in Congress, frequently calls for more U.S. intervention in other countries.
