Conservatives Outraged After First Lady Gets Snubbed Publically

Not everyone appreciates the current occupants of the White House, including individuals behind established brands.

Vanity Fair put out their 2017 International Best-Dressed List, and a lot of high-profile figures were on it. Included on the list were quite a few political figures, however one person was very noticeably absent: Melania Trump.

Vanity Fair honored a number of politicians on their list of best-dressed people in 2017, including former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, President of France Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte. It may come as no surprise that President Donald Trump, with his massive Comb-over and snake-like ties, did not make the cut, but many were surprised that the FLOTUS also didn't make it.

The Daily Caller was quick to call out Vanity Fair for the oversight. "Where is Melania Trump? You know, the First Lady and also the Slovenian immigrant who was a fashion model until 2016," they wrote, calling it a 'bizarre' decision to leave her off the list.

Melania's look has become so popular that Vogue had previously dubbed it the 'Melania effect'. Many women have been looking for clothes, hair cuts and even plastic surgery to make them look more like the posh former fashion model who landed a billionaire and ended up in the White House (eventually).

The Daily Caller accused Vogue's editor-in-chief Grayson Carter, a long-standing Trump critic, of deliberately snubbing the first lady due to political pettiness. After Vanity Fair posted something about Trump's small fingers, an issue about which the POTUS is very sensitive, Trump tweeted, "Has anyone looked at the really poor numbers of @VanityFair Magazine. Way down, big trouble, dead! Graydon Carter, no talent, will be out!"

The magazine has been accused of taking their frustrations out on Trump's wife. Many conservatives tweeted images of Melania along-side her predecessor, asking how such an oversight can be seen as anything but deliberate.

In fact, no Trumps made the list at all, despite the fact that Melania, Ivanka and even Trump's sons and son-in-law are always looking highly-polished and in style. Hervé Pierre, Melania's stylist for the inauguration and high-profile events, did make the cut. But no one who is actually named 'Trump' made the cut.

This wouldn't be Melania's first fashion snub. Ever since her husband won the 2016 election, a number of designers have refused to dress her. This has led Melania to try to prove something. She sometimes over-does it, such as when she went on an international tour with the President and changed her outfit so often it looked as though she was trying out for a fashion show. People are quick to point out when Melania appears to be showing off. She donned a $50,000 Dolce & Gabbana floral jacket once, and many accused the FLOTUS of flaunting her wealth. More recently, she was criticized for heading to Houston after Hurricane Harvey’s destruction in a pair of stiletto heels.

Whether you love or hate the Trump family, it's hard to deny that the FLOTUS often looks absolutely stunning.
