Houseguest Rescues Children From Horrific Child Abuse

A woman in Oklahoma was spending the night with two people she didn't know very well, but she wasn't in the home long before she got to know them better than she expected. She witnessed the two parents abusing their children.

The smart-thinking Good Samaritan convinced the mother to let her take the children out the next day, and when she got them to a safe place she called the police to report the abuse.

According to the anonymous woman, she was a house guest of casual acquaintances, Jamie Goodin and Jacob Baker. After spending the night at their house, she was horrified by the way the young parents treated their two children.

The woman later told police that she witnessed several disturbing things during her short stay with the family. She says she watched as Goodin put a pillow over her crying 7-month-old baby's face. The mother was trying to stop the baby from crying.

She also allegedly saw Baker point a BB gun at the 4-year-old girl, and he nearly shot her in the face. Baker told her the older child was 'the spawn of Satan and she deserves to die'.

The witness also told police she heard Goodin telling a child she would 'break her neck if she did not shut up and leave her alone'.

Goodin admitted to her that the couple would sometimes lock the children alone in the room for hours so they could shoot up methamphetamines. She told police it was a 'drug house'.

The woman convinced Goodin to let her take the children for a walk. The mother agreed. The woman brought the kids to a nearby McDonald's restaurant and called police.

She flagged down the officers as they pulled up and reported what she'd seen.

Police talked to the 4-year-old child and found that she was scared of her mother and other people in the home. "Jake is really mean to me and hurts me," the little girl told the officer.

The children were taken to the hospital for an evaluation. They found the infant was malnourished, had a subdural hematoma, and the 'worst case of diaper rash they had ever seen'.

"We learned that the 7-month-old, once at the hospital, had some type of a brain bleed... a serious head injury," said a police officer.

Officers were sent to the home of the parents. When they knocked they asked Goodin if she knew where her children were. Goodin said the kids were out with a friend, though she later changed her story and said they were with her sister.

As they continued to question, she admitted that the children had gone with a woman, and she didn't know the woman's name.

The mother had trouble telling the police what her childrens' names and birthdates were.

"Through this investigation, we learned that not only had this incident happened, but apparently where BB guns had been pointed at the children, threats had been made… A very sad situation, obviously they're in a better place right now," said Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow in a statement.

"Had she [the woman who helped the children] not called, it's possible. I mean, who knows how much longer these children would have stayed in this environment. They could have been more seriously injured or even killed,"

Baker and Goodin were both arrested and charged with two counts of child abuse. Baker was also charged with possession of CDS in the presence of a minor.
