Man Finds Touching Note On Car Window After Breakfast With His Son

A man was left pleasantly surprised by a heart-warming note that was left on his car windscreen after he finished having breakfast with his son at a Cracker Barrel café in Willoughby, Ohio.

Kevon Smith Sr. was dining with his son when he noticed an elderly couple smiling at him from the other side of the restaurant. While Mr. Smith thought nothing of it, he later noticed they had left a kind note on his car window, and left him money to pay for his breakfast.

Mr. Smith never expected to receive a generous note from a pair of strangers after dining with his son, Kevon Jr. at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. When he noticed the couple smiling at him and his son, he was left somewhat confused: “I noticed this older couple over in the corner.

They kept on smiling at me and I was looking at my son like—what is going on?”

When Mr. Smith went to leave with his son, he noticed a note was left on his car window along with some cash. The note, left by a couple identified as ‘The Masons’, said “Today, your meal is on my wife and I. Enjoy that baby boy as long as God intends.” The Masons went on to write, “Keep doing what you’re doing. The Masons.”

Mr. Smith was incredibly moved by the kind words of The Masons, appreciating that others noticed his efforts to spend quality time with his young son despite having no father figure when he was growing up.

“There’s a lot of guys I know that aren’t taking care of their kids,” Mr. Smith confessed. “To show that not all of us are out here being gang bangers, some of us are out here being fathers.”

Mr. Smith has assured reporters that he will share the heart-warming story with Kevon Jr. when he grows up, ensuring that he will teach him how kindness can go a long way. “I’m definitely going to make sure I’m paying it forward,” Mr. Smith stated. “I get blessed. I want to bless someone else.”

In a similar story, a couple from Connecticut unknowingly set off a chain reaction of kindness after they paid for a family’s meal at First & Last Tavern, Glastonbury. Shane and Mary Jo Dunn gave a family a $50 gift card, along with a note, to honor their late son’s memory.

Their son, Luke, would have been celebrating his 2nd birthday if he hadn’t died from a rare liver cancer when he was just 17 months old.

The Dunns' generosity caused a chain reaction in the restaurant, leading to the first family to purchase a gift card and pass it along to another family dining in the restaurant.

The second family were also touched by the kindness of the Dunns and the initial family, who were celebrating their son's third birthday, and proceeded to pass a gift card on again.

“It makes you think that there is a connection that none of us can comprehend,” Mr. Dunn told NBC Connecticut. The Dunn family were so heartened by the reaction to their gesture, that they started a ‘Pay it Forward’ program, which allows people to nominate a family for a free meal at The First and Last Tavern.
