School Principal Loses Job, Commits Suicide In Wake Of Dramatic Fallout From Affair

A principal who was having an affair with his secretary admitted everything to his wife. His wife went on a rampage and sent threatening emails to the secretary, and the desperate man began sending harassing messages as well. The secretary reported the couple to the school officials, and an investigation was launched. The principal ended up committing suicide.

On May 19, Dennis Reeves, a Texas school principal, confessed to his wife that he had been having an affair with his former secretary, Marcia Morgan. Tammy Reeves went on the warpath.

Mrs. Reeves emailed Morgan that very day to confront her and berate her over the affair. "He told me everything today. You are a lying piece of trash... Do your children know what their mother did?"

The jilted wife didn't stop there, though. Over the next few days, she continued to harass Morgan on social media. At one point, she posted an image of a note allegedly written by the former secretary. The scorned woman sent inflammatory text messages, calling Morgan a ‘whore’ and referring to Morgan as the 'secretary' who had been 'f--king my husband'.

In another incident, she wrote, "You realize you're still alive only because I can't afford a hitman, right?"

Morgan filed a complaint with school officials, bringing in the evidence of the harassment and threats she’d been getting from the principal’s wife. Morgan wasn’t apparently the first person to file a complaint against Mr. Reeves; he had been harassing another teacher in an earlier incident, sending her hundreds of text messages. Her complaint was still on file as well.

Between his wife harassing his old mistress and Reeves harassing another woman, the school board was forced to present the principal with a choice: resign quietly and keep your reputation, or prepare for an administrative investigation.

Faced with an investigation, he attempted to delete text messages, but to no avail. He finally handed over his laptop, keys and district-issued cell phone, and resigned. He walked to his car and retrieved some things belonging to the school, then walked back in to return them.

"I'm not good, I'm not good," he told school officials.

He then walked into the parking lot and shot himself in the head. He was pronounced dead and his death was ruled a suicide.

The school district attempted to protect the privacy of the family, but Mrs. Reeves demanded all documents pertaining to her husband from the school, including the written statement of complaint filed by Morgan. The school district refused to release some documents, including the complaint, so Mrs. Reeves petitioned the Jefferson County Court for access. This brought national media attention to the case.

The school filed a motion to dissolve a temporary restraining order obtained by Mrs. Reeves. "The facts in issue are the fodder for a soap opera serial, not a cause of action in a court of law," said the school's case.
