Toddler Hops on Stage During Chelsea Clinton's Book Reading

Chelsea Clinton is on a book tour, giving readings of her new children's book, 'She Persisted Around the World'. The book is a sequel to Clinton’s book from last year, 'She Persisted', which is about American women who changed the world, such as abolitionist activist Harriet Tubman, traveling journalist Nelly Bly and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The feminist book was a big hit, and now she's making the rounds reading excerpts from the sequel. The new international version includes scientist Marie Curie, civil rights advocate Viola Irene Desmond and British 'Harry Potter' author J.K. Rowling.

“She Persisted Around the World is a book for everyone who has ever aimed high and been told to step down, for everyone who has ever raised their voice and been told to quiet down, and for everyone who has ever felt small, unimportant or unworthy,” reads an excerpt from the book’s description.

One little book lover was so excited about the event that she hopped on stage. At some events this could be a disaster, but Clinton was totally fine with it and took it in stride. The little girl seemed to be a living embodiment of the independent spirit of the kind of women Clinton was writing about.

The event took place in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. The Indigo bookstore chain arranged the event, and a woman named Holly Frasier attended with her 3-year-old daughter.

The toddler can be seen leaning against the stage as she listened to the story. Soon, she hoists herself up and joins Clinton and Indigo CEO Heather Reisman.

No one seemed to mind, and business went on as usual. Later on, Fraser posted a photo on Twitter. "Well, #ShePersisted — my 3yr old hopped on stage w/ @ChelseaClinton & @HeatherReisman."

She added she was going to have a chat with her daughter about boundaries later on.

Clinton responded to the tweet, "We loved having her on stage & I hope she keeps persisting! Thank you for bringing your daughter & hope you enjoy reading #ShePersistedAroundtheWorld together!"

Though the mom may be a little red-faced, it was an adorable moment. Clinton was looking great at the event with an A-line splatter print black dress, and what seem to be her favorite shoes: nude pumps she has been spotted wearing to many other events in the past. She's worn them so much they're starting to get quite scuffed and worn, but she doesn't seem to mind.

The former first daughter has gotten a lot of flak for wearing the same pumps, but they're missing the point of the books she's published. When you have a strong, confident, successful woman on a stage doing something to lift up young girls so they can become strong, confident and successful, why focus on her shoes?

It seems to be the curse that women have to live with, even if they're not celebrities. Chelsea's own mother, Hillary Clinton, should know-- the woman was a Senator, a Secretary of State, and came closer than any woman in history has to winning the highest office in the land. Still, try to find an article after a political debate or rally that doesn't critique her wardrobe.

When is the last time you heard of a magazine discussing political debates throwing in a paragraph or two to describe the male candidate's suit?
