New 'Thong Lift' Surgery Creates Curvier Derriere
Have you heard of the 'Miami Thong Lift'? This new cosmetic procedure is making waves in Florida, where thousands of women have undergone the procedure, intended to enhance the derriere so that it looks better in a thong, as the name implies.
Florida plastic surgeon Dr. Constantino Mendieta says he invented the procedure about a decade ago, though it's just now becoming a trend. "It's just now entering into vogue. As a matter of fact, I'm going to Paris to lecture this week. I've been invited to Turkey, and we're going to Belgium," he said.
Dr. Mendieta first removes excess fat from areas like the patient's thighs or stomach. Then, this fat is processed and injected back into the buttocks. The procedure adds curves by contouring the buttocks, making the area larger along with creating more of an hourglass shape.
To protect their newly curvier appearance, patients can't lie on their backs or put pressure on the area for two months, which means leaning forward while sitting and using plenty of pillows for support.
Jenny Fitz came to Florida from Bolivia last year for the surgery. She spoke with KSEE 24 about the surgery, saying “ I love it. Tremendous change, because I had that square look.”
