Danish Study Refutes Cell Phone Association With Cancer

Researchers from the Danish Cancer Society and the International Agency for Research on Cancer have published what they believe is the largest and most conclusive study thus far on whether the use of cell phones raises the risk of developing cancer.
The results, published in the British Medical Journal, are unequivocal: Cell phones do not cause tumors in people who have them for 10 years or more. Put another way, the risk factor for developing cancers among people who use cell phones heavily does not appear to go up.
The study involved over 358,000 people and spanned 18 years. Importantly, it was funded by the Danish Strategic Research Council, the Swiss National Science Foundation, and the Danish Graduate School in Public Health Science.
No funding was provided by the cell phone industry, which has become somewhat notorious for funding such studies.
The researchers did include one caveat:
"As a small to moderate increase in risk for subgroups of heavy users or after even longer induction periods than 10-15 years cannot be ruled out, further studies with large study populations, where the potential for misclassification of exposure and selection bias is minimised, are warranted."
