Rouge SF, The All Inclusive Bar and Nightclub
Rouge is one of those great places that definitely has a dual personality. By day it is a great spot to sit, drink and cheer on your favorite sports team. By night it is an opulent club with music pounding out the doors.
Rouge is in a great neighborhood on Polk street. It always has a good crowd and a fun vibe. They have these great classic red velvet booths along the wall and as long as you get there early you can grab one. The chandeliers over the bar are a great opulent touch, looking a little out of place when you are watching a sports game but when the place turns into club mode they are fantastic.
My friend and I settled into one of the classic red velvet booths and each of us grabbed a margarita on the rocks. The drinks were kind of small but very tasty. The Bartender was so nice and friendly and it was not very busy at that time so she was quick with our drinks. The College hoops games were playing on the 5 Plasmas that were surrounding the bar. They were at the perfect volume so we could cheer our team on but also still hold a conversation. Some places have the TV's up so loud that you can't hear your own thoughts let alone the person next to you.
After the games ended we decided to stay on and experience the club side of the venue. It started out pretty mellow and as the night went on we were glad we had our booth. The place filled up quickly and was soon packed. The sound from the TV's were turned off and the DJ began spinning. He played a really great selection of hip hop music.
It was a good mix of beats that made you want to get up and dance. There was a small group on the dance floor and as the night went on it grew. It was a really fun vibe and everyone was really friendly. The bartenders were great with keeping the drinks flowing and the crowd happy. Overall even though the place was packed there was enough room to move around and even get my groove on. Rouge is a fun place for Happy Hour or a great spot to grab a drink and dance the night away.
