Here Is How Ginger Can Help With Nasal Polyps

Nasal polyps are soft, painless growths that occur in the lining of your nasal passages or sinuses. Nasal polyps can feel like you have a cold that doesn’t seem to ever go away. It might even feel like you have nasal congestion that continues even after you take over the counter medication. Fortunately, there are remedies that can help ease the symptoms of nasal polyps so you can breathe better and live better.

Ginger has been used as a digestive stimulant for thousands of years. Its benefits have been thoroughly studied and documented by scientists. In fact, World Health Organization scientist Norman Farnsworth calls ginger “one of the three most thoroughly investigated plants in the history of the world.” (The other two are garlic and ginseng.) One important feature of the medicinal value of ginger is that it is quite safe. Not only has it been used in several clinical trials, but people have used it in cooking for many hundreds of years.

Ginger can be an herb that can help reduce the symptoms of nasal polyps. A study from 2013 showed it may ease inflammation and enhance immunity which can help reduce the feeling of nasal congestion.

The best way to take ginger is to eat it or drink it. You can take 100 mg. of ginger extract in capsule form or chew a ¼ to ½ slice of ginger root. You can also drink ginger tea. To make it, pour a cup of boiling water over ½ tsp. of ginger root. Another method is to eat ginger candy. Ginger candy is especially useful if you are traveling, as it is small and portable.

Excessive doses of ginger may cause mild heartburn, diarrhea or mouth irritation. If you feel any of these effects please consult a doctor.
